New Sponsors Contribute to 2018 Lotman Challenge Prize Purse

October 18, 2018, Philadelphia – Additional prize money will be awarded to the winning single scullers of the 2018 Herb Lotman United States Rowing Challenge, thanks to contributions from two companies, Swing Ventures and The CES Group at Morgan Stanley.

The two companies join premier sponsor Glenmede and the Philadelphia Gold Challenge Cup Foundation in partnership with USRowing, the Head Of The Charles Regatta and the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, in their collective effort to further promote and develop single sculling in the United States by awarding prize money to the top American men and women scullers accumulating the most points over the course of the three-race series.

“We are excited to expand the list of organization championing the Lotman Challenge with the addition of Morgan Stanley and Swing Ventures as Supporting Sponsors,” said U.S. Lotman Challenge Organizer and Philadelphia Gold Cup Challenge Foundation Board Member Scot Fisher. “Although this is only our second year running the Lotman Challenge, we are already well on our way to exceeding last year’s level of funding for elite US single scullers. We want to continue broadening support for this initiative around the country. Our hope is to significantly move the needle on funding elite domestic single scullers through this vehicle.”

The Challenge began with USRowing’s first National Selection Regatta on April 17-20 in West Windsor, N.J., and continues this weekend atthe Head of The Charles Regatta on October 20, culminating at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on October 27.

“We’re proud to offer our support,” said Swing Ventures Founder and Director, John Chatzky. “As an investment fund our mission is to find and encourage excellence. In that way we’re fully aligned with the Lotman Challenge and see this as a great opportunity to stand behind a community which shares our values.”

“We are very excited to support such a wonderful event and to honor the memory of Herb,” said Jacob Guzman, Vice President, Morgan Stanley
